Northeast Chapter
Welcome to the Northeast Chapter section of the Pennsylvania Society of Tax & Accounting Professionals website (PSTAP).
PSTAP is an active organization, from the state level to the individual chapters, whose members are dedicated to helping small practitioners through legislative advocacy and providing quality continuing education courses.
The Northeast Chapter sponsors over 56 hours of continuing professional education (CPE) courses each year from May through November. Members receive considerable discounts on seminar fees, which more than pays for their membership dues each year.
If you know of a tax or accounting professional who is not a member, please encourage them to join; not only because we offer quality continuing professional education credits at a reasonable price, but just as important, to be part of a organization that works with the legislators, IRS, PA, PICPA etc. on your behalf.
There are many benefits to joining PSTAP organization;
• Legislative advocacy – protecting and supporting small practitioners throughout PA.
• Networking opportunities
• Quality continuing education
• PSTAP email discussion group – Listserv
• PA Accountant Magazine – quarterly publication
• PSTAP website – www.pstap.org
• Affinity Program Partners
I would like to thank all of the Northeast Chapter Officers and Board of Directors, as well as, the staff at PSTAP Executive Office and our Executive Director Sherry DeAgostino for their dedication and commitment to this organization.
We are always looking for new members to become involved in our Chapter. Please let me know if you are interested and would like more information. I look forward to seeing you at the seminars.
Sincerely,
Jeanette S. Worden, EA, ATP
NE Chapter President
Chapter Profile
The Northeast Chapter represents Certified Public Accountants, Public Accountants, Enrolled Agents and tax practitioners from the Lackawanna, Luzerne, Wyoming, Monroe, Pike, Wayne, and Susquehanna counties of Pennsylvania. The chapter\'s geographical area covers the Greater Scranton-Wilkes Barre area and the Poconos. Members are also located throughout the 10th and 11th Congressional Districts.
The chapter was founded for the purposes of providing quality education to accounting professionals at a reasonable cost. The Northeast Chapter began offering continuing education seminars in the early 1970\'s before CPE was even a requirement for licensure. We continue to be one of the largest and most sought after seminar providers in the Greater Scranton-Wilkes-Barre area.
As accounting professionals, we are all aware of the high costs associated with maintaining our professional status. PSTAP members receive substantial discounts on all CPE programs. In fact, most members find that membership in the PSTAP doesn\'t cost them anything because the money they save on CPE more than pays for their annual membership dues. More importantly, the seminar and chapter meeting topics are tailored to meet the educational needs of sole practitioner and small accounting firms.
The Northeast Chapter recognizes the importance of emphasizing and perpetuating the prestige and status of the accounting profession by supporting the accounting professionals of the future. The chapter generously awards annual scholarships to senior accounting majors from colleges and universities within the chapter\'s geographical area.
