Identity Verification Letter Guidance for Practitioners

Safeguarding taxpayer information is a top priority for the Department of Revenue.  To help with this endeavor they use a variety of tools to protect taxpayers and prevent others from trying to file a false tax return in their name.  One of these tools is an identity validation letter, that requires the taxpayer to perform an action in order to confirm their identity.   The document attached provides information on the various types of identity validation letters the department may send.
