Webinar Course Descriptions

August 27th from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. “Form 990 Not-For-Profit Tax Return Overview” This course aims to equip both novice and seasoned preparers with the skills to proficiently handle Form 990.  It covers the basics of nonprofit issues, the implications of unrelated business income for nonprofits, and the identification and avoidance of common errors during Form 990 preparation.  The course also provides guidance on the appropriate reporting requirements for unique nonprofit situations, offering a hands-on-approach to tackling the complexities of Form 990.

August 27th from 2 – 4 p.m. “Form 990-EZ Short-Form Not-For-Profit Tax Return Overview” This course aims to train both new and experienced preparers on the effective navigations of Form 990-EZ.  It addresses common issues encountered when filing Form 990-EZ, explains basic nonprofit issues, and discusses the impact of unrelated business income on nonprofits.  The course also helps identify and rectify common mistakes made during Form 990-EZ preparation and clarifies the reporting requirements for unique nonprofit situations.  It serves as a practical guide to overcoming the challenges of completing Form 990-EZ.

August 29th from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. “Form 990-PF Private Foundation tax Return Overview” This course is designed to instruct both new and experienced preparers on the intricacies of Form 990-PF.  It highlights common issues and errors encountered during Form 990-PF preparation and provides direction on the correct reporting requirements for unique foundation situations.  The course serves as a comprehensive guide to successfully completing the Form 990-PF tax return for foundations.

August 29th from 2 – 4 p.m. “Form 990-T:  Unrelated Business Income” This course is intended to educate both new and experienced preparers on the nuances of Form 990-T.  It discusses common issues and mistakes associated with Form 990-T preparation and outlines the correct reporting requirements for unique situations involving unrelated business income.  The course delves into the principles of unrelated business income and their exceptions, providing a practical roadmap to navigate the challenges of completing Form 990-T.

September 19th from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. “Form 1023 Application for 501(c)(3) Status” This course will offer an in-depth review for accounting pros and tax preparers who work with non-profit organizations and other clients seeking to qualify for tax exempt status on Form 1023, Application for Recognition of Exemption Under Section 501(c)(3).  Completing a client’s IRS Form 1023 to apply for 501(c)(3) tax exempt status poses many tough compliance issues for accountants and tax preparers.  The discussion will include what financial data is requested on Form 1023 and how it should be presented, how to respond to questions about close connections with other organizations and intellectual property, specifying what activities must be reported, and meeting standards for disclosing compensation, non-fixed benefits, member benefits, and other data.  It is a practical guide with approaches for overcoming Form 1023 and its schedules toughest compliance challenges.
