Moderator, Jim Pitts is an Association Relationship Manager for My Benefit Advisor LLC(MBA). For the last 20 years Jim & MBA have worked closely with PA based Professional & Trade Associations providing insurance products, services, and education, mostly focused on health insurance solutions and other employee benefits, for its members. Panelist, Shelly Bloom currently serves as the Director of Legislative Awareness and Training at Emerson Rogers, LLC. Emerson is a wholesale general agency representing Life, Health, Dental, Disability & Vision insurance companies in 36 states. My Benefit Advisor is Emerson’s retail division, and both are operating companies of USI Insurance Services, the 6th largest insurance brokerage in the country. Shelly’s role is to monitor changes in laws related to employer-provided health and welfare programs. She communicates them to staff, brokers, and clients in the form of webinars, podcasts, seminars, guides, as well as responses to specific questions. She likes to stay on top of the new developments; particularly those related to the Affordable Care Act. Shelly enjoys being able to distill a complex issue, empowering one to make an informed business decision. Shelly is a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP). She is a former president of the Pennsylvania Association of Health Underwriters and former state legislative chair. Shelly resides in Harrisburg, PA. Panelist, Rich Miller began his professional career in public accounting. After working mainly with closely held business for years, he founded The Harrison Group, Inc. based in Havertown, PA and in 1987 the firm begam to establish Section 125 plans for clients. Since then, The Harrison Group has evolved into a firm that provides technical consulting and administration services to a variety of businesses and non-profits throughout the United States. Rich works with accounting professionals as a resource for primarily design and administrative services for Health Reimbursement Arrangements (HRA), consulting services for Health Savings Accounts (HSA), preparation of wrap documents and Form 5500 and Non-Discrimination Testing. Rich is a graduate of Villanova University. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accounts and serves on the Board of PA Chapter of the National Association of Benefits and Insurance Professionals.
